It has been almost a year since I really blogged at all…
But I decided it is time to come back to it.
I am making a few technical modifications to the site, mainly making it so all the entries I’ve ever made don’t all appear on the single page!
Once I finish that, I will update the style a bit, and then start posting entries. I will probably back post some info and images to fill in stuff I have been doing since I last blogged
I’m Back :)
Happy Blogiversary!
I know I have hardly blogged at all the past 6 weeks or so. But this is my blog’s One Year Birthday!!!
Hey
I know I have been terrible about blogging. I have been pretty crazy with work. Have no fear, I am working on a new version of jamieblog.com and it should be done fairly soon. I had to put it off to the side for a little bit because I had “real” work to do.
I am getting close to my one year blogiversary!
New Versions Soon!
I know I have been bad about blogging recently. I am pretty busy with work, but I am gonna renovate jamieblog.com very soon.
Plans are forming
Are you sitting down?
So, today I put a deposit down on an apartment in Worcester! After spending the whole summer totally perplexed about where to live, I decided to return to the place I have spent the past 4 years…
However this time it will be different, instead of being in my small dorm room, I get to be in a spacious 2 bedroom apartment
Well, if the whole application process goes well that is.
Basically I realized that I actually know the most people in Worcester. Some are seniors this year and others are from my class and doing the 5th year program. I just figured it would be nice to know some people and be in an area I am used to when I am starting out in my first apartment. I am pretty excited about the prospect of having some real space all to myself. Of course I have to work all day, every day to pay for it, but you gotta start sometime right? ![]()
I will obviously post extensive pictures when I actually get up there. If all goes well, that should be within the next 2 weeks. Of course then I have to buy furniture and all that. I’m sure I will make many trips to bed, bath and beyond!
V710 and HS810

I have been lazy with this, but I got these a few weeks ago and I figured it was time to post something about them. This is the new Motorola V710 phone for Verizon. I managed to get my hands on it like a week or 10 days before Verizon actually started selling it. Of course I could not resist so I also bought the HS810 Bluetooth Headset. I have used bluetooth equipment before, ie PDA’s, Keyboards, Mice, PC’s, but never cell phones…
This phone is bigger than the V60, but it still easily fits in my pocket. The phone has color screens inside and out, a high-res camera, voice recognition, etc etc. you get the idea. The one gripe I have with the external color screen is that is turns off after a set interval of time (max 30 seconds), so in order to read the time you must press one of the external buttons to make the display illuminate. Also, it means you can’t really tell the phone is ON without pressing a button or opening it. I with it had a blinking light like the V60. That said, I have heard there might be a firmware upgrade that changes the way the external screen behaves. That could be both good and bad, because i’m sure the screen would drain the battery pretty quick if it remains on all the time.
One of my favorite features is the new Voice Recognition, and I must say IT ACTUALLY WORKS. The V60 had a simple form of this, but you were required to record a version of the name and later the phone would match what you say with the recorded version and dial the associated number. If I remember correctly, you could only store 10 numbers for recognition like that. With the V710, none of that is needed. If I store a number in the phone called “DC House”, I can simple press the voice key and say “Name Dial, DC House”. You can also say “Digit Dial, 5551212″. As long as there is not a large amount of background noise, this feature works great.
The headset is pretty cool too, it basically works as expected. It comes with the same charger as the phone, which is nice because you dont need to have two different chargers for the devices. Once you pair the headset with the phone, you just press the button on the side of the headset and you can give a voice command. As you can imagine, the voice dialing comes in handy with the headset. While in the car, I made a number of long calls on the headset using voice dialing.
OK, well I think thats it. If you want a feature bu feature review of this phone, there are plenty of places to look. If you are a verizon customer I would recommend upgrading to this phone if you dont mind the price. If you are not a verizon customer, I would recommend becoming one. Then worry about what phone to get
Try Again

I lost my most recent entry because my web host moved to a different city. I forget exactly what the entry said, but something like I am now on Cape Cod and I stopped in Worcester on the way up. I also figured I’d repost this pic, luckily the weather is much nicer today
Live from Florida

Good Evening, I figured I’d post an update of what is going on with me. I am still chillin’ in Florida, I got my new ride tinted as you may have noticed above
I have yet to figure out when exactly I am heading home… but I am trying to look into some jobs in this area first. Oh yeah, funny story, well its actually not funny in reality but here it goes. So peter and I were driving around in downtown ft lauderdale and at a light I looked over at the car next to us and it was a whole family in a mini-van with daddy driving, and daddy was drinking a bud light…
Yeah Baby

So this is my new ride:)
You see the big black plastic bumpers? No…. yeah thats cuz I had them painted silver! I must say it looks kinda hot though. So I picked up my X3 earlier this evening. We finished at the dealer around 6:30. I have only driven it home so far, and so far so good.
In Florida
Sup yo
I am in Florida right now, I have actually been here for 12 days I think. I am staying with Peter in Weston FL. It has averaged around 95 degrees, during the day and night. My flight back to DC was yesterday morning, so I am not sure exactly when I am heading home. I will either be driving or taking the auto-train because I am picking up my new BMW X3 tomorrow
I am gonna run for now, but I will certainly post a pic or two tomorrow when I pickup the car.
